As you may have noticed, we’ve taken a break from posting over the last month or so. It wasn’t exactly my intention, but I was feeling very uninspired and at a loss towards the content I was creating.
And then the inauguration happened.
And after that, the Women’s March.
I was lucky enough to have a march in my small town, and spent an hour and a half watching thousands of protesters march the streets, chanting in unison, hugging each other.
Later, after I went home, I spent hours upon hours on twitter, looking at hundreds of photos of women at various marches. I still think about it now, a week later, as such a pivotal moment in my mindset.
I suddenly had such a newfound admiration for community and was awestruck by the power of the people. For once in my life, I felt like people we’re listening.
And I wanted to be a part of that.
So, here we are again with a whole new perspective.
Decaf will continue to be a place to celebrate art and expression. We will continue to give a platform to the little guys. We will continue to spread positivity and confidence.
But more than ever, Decaf will become a community. Our email address will be open to those who have something to say. We will be a platform for activism, and have absolutely no tolerance for hate.
Most importantly, we want to show the power of art, the power of voice, the power of the internet.
Because more than ever, I want to prove that we will be the generation that changes the world.
