The Last Shadow Puppets have an interesting history to say the least. Forming in 2007 and taking frequent hiatuses since then, the band seems to have an on-again-off-again relationship with their followers. But with the Arctic Monkeys’ hiatus that began in 2014 not yet drawing to a close, we have all been just dying to hear from the living legend that is Alex Turner.
2016 has shown to be one of those wondrous years that Alex teams up with Miles Kane to make some magic. The Last Shadow Puppets’ new album, Everything You’ve Come To Expect, has proven once again that this band does not disappoint.
Songs like Miracle Aligner and Sweet Dreams, TN give a vintage touch, while songs like Aviation, Everything You’ve Come To Expect, and Dracula Teeth add dark mystery to the album. It is a perfect mix of vastly different styles that seem to mesh in the most incredible way. This album is bound to make you feel like a badass, a witch, a beatnik, or whatever else you feel it can turn you into. The best way to describe it is to say that the Arctic Monkeys grew up, put on a suit, and are at this moment about to pour you a glass of expensive wine. The Last Shadow Puppets’ quirky sophistication is sure to turn a screaming Arctic Monkeys fangirl into a cool, alternative vixen (even if it’s just for a little bit).
